An unforgettable elopement shoot

This day was a dream. It was really beautiful from a visual perspective, but what really captivated me were the priceless emotions that seemed to keep flowing throughout the whole day!

Since we were eloping to the Faroe Islands and it was just the two of us, we didn’t really have a traditional wedding photo session in mind but more of a road trip with a few stops along the way. We talked via video to get to know each other a bit before arriving and to get a feel of what we wanted to do when we do get there. Having a local photographer on your destination wedding is a lifesaver and someone so ready to help and accommodate like Gilli even more so. Gilli came to pick us up in his car so, other than being our photographer, he was our chauffeur for the day as well. Interacting during the whole day while shooting was very fun and relaxed. We got our photos in a week which was incredible. Gilli is a great photographer and an even greater person and we’re sure whatever engagement you hire him for you’ll be happy you did.”"

Lorena & Jakov are from Zagreb, Croatia, and got married in the Faroe Islands. We spent the day together, had loads of fun and got so many awesome photos together! It sounds rather strange at first to spend the day with someone you’ve never met before shooting photos, but these experiences always turn out so fantastic, and so do the photos! It’s good for the client to know, that there is actually a person behind the camera. This ensures that the couple is relaxed, it makes for way better photos and we get to know each other and become friends!

The day started with preparation shots at the hotel they stayed at. I always spend at least 30 minutes just talking to my clients without my camera, so they can get sort of used to having a photographer around. Sticking a camera in someone’s face before even getting to say hi isn’t too good.

First location of the day was Kirkjubøur, which is an amazing spot for cool photos like this one above. Both the weather and the light on this day was fantastic, which, if you’ve been in the Faroe Islands, is rare. Lorena and Jakov came very prepared with hiking gear and other equipment in case the weather got bad, as it frequently does is in the so called “Land of Maybe”.

With Lorena looking like a beautiful princess and Jakov, the croatian James Bond, their outfits matched perfectly with the breathtaking landscape of the Faroe Islands. They even had their rings smithed specifically for them, and also the flowers on Lorena’s temple and on Jakov’s chest. Jakov did of course also color match his tie, handkerchief and socks.
